Musings...

In typical fashion I've been reminiscing  about the past year, the highs and the lows.  Was there anything I'd like to do different, anything I'd change.  Was there something I wanted to do, but didn't because of a factor I could control.

How would I like to improve myself, my life this year.

My year was pretty darn full....

Last February I competed a dog show handling my own dog Izzy.  Starting the journey into the world my mom started.  Who would have thought back in February that we would end up in California competing in the Eukanuba show with Izzy's son, Hank?

My daughter graduated from high school.

Jim and I celebrated 5 years of marriage.

I rode, A LOT this summer.  I had promised myself that I'd be riding both mares at least three days a week and hopefully a weekend day.  I managed to meet that goal when I, or one of the girls wasn't injured.

I competed in my first Dressage show.  While it was not riding one of my horses, it was still the first part of that goal.

I got my weight under control.  In doing so I found a new me... or the old me I buried under all that "bulk" that I forgot about.   It was a stripping of the emotional baggage that we straddle ourselves with and find solace in certain foods.   I still have a long way to go in the whole "Simplify" thing but I'm working on it.

Through all of this I make time to spend with each of my children individually, as well as a family.  While my time is spread thin, I've made sure that they have my undivided attention.  This means cell phone's off and we really communicate. Mostly we laugh and joke but hay it's all good.

Honestly, I think there is only one thing I want in addition to what I've done this past year.  This one thing is going to be my soul focus this year.

By January 1, 2012 I want to be living in the country, with my horses on my property.

Smaller goals I have:
1. Ride my own horse in a Dressage test (most likely Rosie)
2. Show Bonnie in Western Pleasure (means teaching her to "jog and lope")
3. Handle one of my dogs in another dog show (already in the works for April in Tulsa, OK)
4. Go on family trip this summer and have fun

My number one "Resolution" is to just live my life to the ultimate fullness I can.

I recently said "I think I've finally lived the life I've always wanted !"

  2. Happy New Year Jeni! You had a wonderful year, and achieved so much - thanks for sharing you, with us. You are one of the most driven people I have the pleasure of knowing. Wish I had half your ambition. I have no doubt you will find a way for your family to live in the country, with Bonnie and Rosie!

  3. I'm so impressed! Any one of those goals would have been a major achievement. I think my head would be spinning with it all :)
Speaking from experience, having horses at home in the winter time is lots of work. I'd still do it if only we had an indoor, and I totally understand wanting to because I miss my horses like crazy when they leave in the fall for their winter boarding, but, just saying :) Don't spread yourself too thin. I've loved 'meeting' you and reading your blog this year. All the best for a great 2011!!!
