Well Hello Sunshine!!

I woke up to a beautiful sunrise this morning which caused the temperature to finally move above 30 F.

Or course all that sunshine I enjoyed from the glass building I work in, but I have what I call "premium seating". My cubicle over looks part of a golf course, and if I sit just right I can watch the roller coasters at Kings Island.

I spent most of my week at work preparing for a four day weekend which began for me at 5pm today *grins*.

I'm attending a 3 day Collie Specialty Show in Davisburg MI. I have three of my dogs entered in two shows a day each, so I decided to go help my friend who handles them for me. These two, Hank (split face) and Ivy are brother and sister (same litter) and each are lacking 1 point to be champions.

And for the first time since my mom passed away I have their dam, Izzy entered into a show. Here is her Best of Variety / Best in Show win from February 2009:

The girl in the picture with Izzy is no longer her handler (or co-owner. Very long sad story involving true colours and honesty) So this will be my friends first time handling Izzy. I can't wait to see how they do. In 2009 Izzy was in the top 10 in the nation of smooth coat collies.

My goal is to get her there again and hopefully go to AKC National Show next spring (2011) with her, Hank and Ivy.

Watch for dog show pictures and wish us luck!

  5. Thanks everyone!

NuzzMuzz - My mom was the dog breeder/show person. When she passed a year ago I inherited the kennel and at that time 14 adult dogs and 16 puppies. I kept the two puppies - Hank and Ivy that mom wanted to keep and sold all the rest of the pups as very well bred almost perfect pets. One of the adults was geriatric and we put her down early winter.

I've sat on my decisions for a year trying to figure out what to do with these dogs. Continue what mom started, keep them all as pets, or sell them off to the show world who really can't wait to get their hands on her stock.

I've decided to continue what she started...
