Really not much to write about lately. I'm three full weeks into the new barn and loving every day more than the last.
Bonnie and Rosie are back to normal weight and building muscle. They don't even look like the same horses that I unloaded three weeks ago. Hips are rounded, top lines filling in, no more visible ribs. You can feel ribs, not see them. Perfect. Now it's a matter of finding the correct feed amounts to maintain.
I'm loving that both mares nicker at me when I walk up to their paddock, or into the barn if they are in their stalls. I like to think they are happy to see me, but reality is I'm just the "Dinner Lady". That's ok, I'll take it! They are not stalled much at all. I think the last time was Wednesday. Since then outside 24x7.
Rosie's little bucking fit last week did a number on my fragile back. I've been resting it by not riding, and minimal lifting. Just so that I would be able to ride today!
I'll write about that tomorrow. For now I'm couch jockey and yawning big.
Glad things are settling with the girls! Ouch! take care of that back!
ReplyDeleteRide that couch softly and enjoy.

No news sounds like happy news. Even with the sore back, you seem very content.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that your mares are, too.
Now just to get your back healed up.

What a difference three weeks makes! What a wonderful transformation so quickly. I hope your back mends quickly. Without the worry of the boarding situation you can relax and take care of yourself. I'm looking forward to hearing about your ride :)
ReplyDeleteYou sure did the right thing when you moved. You and the horses sound very happy. Hope your back gets back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad you've found a happy home for the girls (and you!). Feel better.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like everything is good, except maybe your back. Hope that feels better soon.
