Getting Away From It All

After a hellish beginning half of 2009 I decided my family was taking a vacation even if it was a long weekend type of vacation.   So after little discussion about where to go it was decided that the first cabin I can find available that is pet and kid friendly in either Dale Hollow, TN, Lake Cumberland, KY, or Hocking Hills, OH was where we were going to go.

We ended up in Dale Hollow.

I think it's my new favorite place to get away.  I do mean "away"!  20 miles off 75 and Samie says with panic "Mom I don't have cell service !?!?".   I just grin as my vacation just got infinitely better!

Cabin was perfect, weather was excellent and water was warm.

We hiked at Burgess Falls and enjoyed dipping our toes into the cool water

And gazing at the beauty that is only found in nature

Then on Sunday we spent the entire day tubing on Dale Hollow Lake.   Each of us had a turn riding on the tube:

  1. BEAUTIFUL! The falls remind me of some of the smaller falls around Tahquamenon falls. LOVE it. It looks like you guys had a GREAT time!

  2. It was definitely nice getting away finally. Samie thanked me for not going to Michigan for our vacation. She said it just wouldn't be the same without grammie. I have to agree with her.
